Water Media Artist
My art training began as a ten-year-old in semi-private Saturday morning art classes with a local artist. In high school craft class I learned to design with sterling silver, filing, soldering and setting stones, enameling copper, shaping a mahogany plank into polished chiseled bowls and basketry. At high school graduation, receiving the outstanding crafts student award was a wonderful recognition.
At Florida Southern College, I studied drawing, oil and watercolor painting. New York City was an adventure, where I studied fashion design at Traphagen School of Fashion followed by a long and satisfying career in home sewing fashion at The McCall Pattern Company. Weaving, print textile design and screen-printing were studied at The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.
Believing one paints from the heart, supported by good training, I am committed to continuing education studying with outstanding instructors in intensive classes and workshops.
I believe a painting is a visual symphony, incorporating good composition,
harmonious, interesting, visually engaging shapes and pleasing color values to
give an individual uplifting pleasure when viewing the painting.
Other creative endeavors are weaving, writing, storytelling
and speaking. Participation in group and individual shows is an opportunity
to share my art with other art lovers. At this point in my life, if it isn’t
creative, it’s not on my To-Do list.
